SQS Fiber Optics will participate in the Live Career Library event, where prominent employers from the Jičín District will present interesting careers as inspiration and motivation for 8th and 9th graders when choosing their further education to prepare for future employment. At the SQS booth, they will have the opportunity to experience the profession of "special order technician" involved in the development and production of high-precision optomechanical components in the field of fiber optics and laser technology, and to speak directly with the technician who performs this position at SQS. The event takes place on 12 April 2023 in the Masaryk Theater in Jičín.
Children from the SQS Saurus company kindergarten, which has been open to all children since last November (not only for children from employees' families), welcomed the coming spring. In the morning circle, they exercised, repeated the song Spring Makes Experiments and blew away the winter during breathing exercises with cotton wool. Then they built a tulip from the playing blocks and learned to draw it. After a snack, on a walk around the kindergarten neighborhood, the children looked for and recognized the signs of spring, such as spring flowers, buds on tree branches and singing birds.
Dětská skupina SQS vzdělávacího centra DS Saurus se nově otevírá pro všechny děti. Nábor bude zahájen 1. 11. 2022.
Dětská skupina Saurus je nadstandardně pojaté vzdělávací zařízení s kapacitou max. 24 dětí cca od 2 let (dle schopností dítěte) do zahájení povinné školní docházky. DS Saurus sídlí v kompletně zrekonstruovaném rodinném domku v Havlíčkově ulici v Nové Pace nedaleko sídla společnosti SQS Vláknová optika, která je zřizovatelem a provozovatelem dětské skupiny. Děti mají k dispozici velmi kvalitně vybavené zázemí s hernami, klidovou místností na spaní, kuchyňkou, jídelnou a učebnou. K venkovním aktivitám slouží vlastní uzavřená zahrada s pískovišti, záhonky a herními prvky. Celoroční provoz zajišťuje plně kvalifikovaný personál podle propracovaného výchovného a vzdělávacího plánu s důrazem na individuální přístup, využití moderních didaktických pomůcek a především příjemnou rodinnou atmosféru.

SQS Fiber optic a.s. was nominated for the prestigious award Company of the Year 2021 of the Hradec Králové region. The award is awarded by the Regional Chamber of Commerce to prominent regional businessmen and companies for their long-term honest work. The ceremonial announcement took place on 15 September 2022 at Dobřenice Castle.
On September 1, SQS participated in the Family Day for Children. The event with the subtitle "Mom, dad, I can do your job too" took place in Jičín on Matěják sport center. At the SQS booth, the children worked with optical fiber and made a functional fiber lamp. They received "money" for their work, which they then spent in a children's shop.
Architectural design for the upcoming construction project of new SQS development and production premises. The project also envisages the establishment of a vocational high school focused on fiber optics, laser technology and mechatronics. The start of project implementation is planned for 2023.
SQS Team of the Future built a model of a nuclear power plant in the T-profi competitioni
Technically gifted children competed in the sixth nationwide round of the "T-profi" (Talents for Firms) organized by the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic. A multi-generational team competition of primary school pupils, secondary school pupils, teachers and experts from practice as team captains took place on June 27-28 in Prague. The primary purpose of these competitions is to increase the prestige of vocational education and increase interest in technical education.
The Hradec Králové region was represented by the team of SQS Vláknová optika a.s. from Nové Paka, winner of the regional round. The talented students of the Secondary School of Engineering and Electrical Engineering, together with the gifted pupils of the Komenského Nová Paka Elementary School, took an excellent 4th place. The group led by captain Miloš Dolejší tackled a technically demanding task and stood up to strong competition from a total of twelve teams representing not only the regions of the Czech Republic, but also the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. The SQS team approached the unknown task very responsibly, focused and with great enthusiasm. The task of the competitors was to assemble a functional model of a nuclear power plant from a polytechnic kit with electronic control, which our regional team managed in the second fastest time and in very high quality. This success is a great achievement for all involved and we believe it will help attract new people interested in technical fields and trades.

Talents for Companies is a competition organized by the Czech Chamber of Commerce. The concept of professional competition includes tasks focused on the use of fine motor skills and creativity, typically consisting in the creation of a functional model based on a polytechnic kit. Multigenerational teams, which consist of three primary school pupils, three secondary school students and a teacher led by an expert from practice, compete with each other. The main goals of the event include increasing the prestige of vocational education and interest in technical professions and fields, support for cooperation between schools, companies and enthusiasts for technology.
The SQS TEAM OF THE FUTURE, led by an expert from SQS Vláknová optika Miloš Dolejších, won the regional round in Hradec Králové and advanced to the national final, which takes place on 28 June 2022 in Prague.

SQS Vláknová optika has developed laser diode driver CML 12-02-100 for highly demanding industrial, medical and research laser applications in a half- brick size.
The SQS high power laser driver enables laser diode power supply in constant (CW) as well as in pulsing (QCW) regimes with high efficiency up to 99 %, high current setpoint accuracy, excellent stability, and low ripple current.
The high power laser diode driver CML 12-02-100 may be computer-controlled by digital or analog signals via free control software with Graphical User Interface. The laser diode driver offers several protection features incl. soft start current ramp to user setpoint, reverse current protection, overheating protection, and safety interlock function.
Between 26.-29. April 2022, SQS Vlaknova optika a.s. will take part in the international Laser World of Photonics trade fair in Munich. This is the 25th anniversary of the trade fair focused on current developments in the field of components, systems, and applications for the photonics market.
The SQS presentation will focus primarily on news in the following product groups:
- laser cables for high power laser beams transfer,
- optical fiber assemblies with collimators,
- optical fiber feedthroughs for high-vacuum or high-pressure applications.
Of course, we will also present our other top solutions, such as fiber optic components with PM fibers preserving the polarization of the transmitted optical signal or our development and production services in the fields of fiber optics and optoelectronics, incl. design and prototyping of high-precision mechanical parts using our laser and CNC micromachining capabilities.

SMA, D80 Optical Connectors with Copper Heatsink for High Performance
SQS Vlaknova optika offers its own solution of high-power optical connector interface. The SQS solution of high-power connectors is based on using copper ferrules with bored front face.
The copper body allows better heat dissipation and free-standing fiber tip minimizes the probability of damage by uncoupled light. Moreover the front part of the connector is epoxy free so there is no material that could easily burn.
The SQS team developed a new design of these connectors for even higher powers by adding a fiber end-cap to the front face. This solution ensures expansion of the Mode Field Diameter and thus reduces the power density at the glass-air interface to a level below the damage threshold.
Additional enhancement of these connectors could be done by using AR coating or mode-stripping technology, which removes most of the light from fiber cladding.
