The configurations differ mainly in the number of fibers and in patterns of the fiber arrangement which corresponds to the requirements of given applications. A special category of these fiber bundles are "laser cables" designed for transferring of high energy laser beams. This kind of fiber bundles may contain up to 10,000 optical fibers.
