SMA, D80 Optical Connectors with Copper Heatsink for High Performance

SQS Vlaknova optika offers its own solution of high-power optical connector interface. The SQS solution of high-power connectors is based on using copper ferrules with bored front face.

The copper body allows better heat dissipation and free-standing fiber tip minimizes the probability of damage by uncoupled light. Moreover the front part of the connector is epoxy free so there is no material that could easily burn.

The SQS team developed a new design of these connectors for even higher powers by adding a fiber end-cap to the front face. This solution ensures expansion of the Mode Field Diameter and thus reduces the power density at the glass-air interface to a level below the damage threshold.

Additional enhancement of these connectors could be done by using AR coating or mode-stripping technology, which removes most of the light from fiber cladding.

SQS in a joint project with Quittner & Schimek s.r.o. established a company kindergarten DS Saurus. The project "SQS educational center - DS Saurus" (registration number CZ.03.1.51 / 0.0 / 0.0 / 19_111 / 0015425) received support from the Operational Program Employment in the call, which is aimed at supporting the establishment and operation of "children's groups" for businesses and the public.

The DS Saurus children's group is a full-fledged educational facility for preschool children, which will be entered in the register of children's groups of the Czech Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, later in the register of schools and school facilities according to the prepared legislation. With this important step, the management of both companies decided to support families with young children in order to make it easier for them to perform their jobs.

The reconstruction of the family house in Havlíčková Street in Nová Paka, where the kindergarten will be located, near the SQS company premises, is currently being completed, and a tender for the kindergarten staff is also underway. The start of operation is expected immediately after approval and fulfillment of all legal obligations (the operation started at the beginning of August 2020).

Children will have at their disposal very well-equipped facilities with playrooms, a rest / sleeping room, a kitchenette, a dining room and a classroom. There will also be its own enclosed garden with game elements. The year-round operation will be provided by qualified staff according to a sophisticated educational plan with an emphasis on an individual approach, the use of modern teaching aids and, above all, a family atmosphere.

The educational program includes various activities:

• Active movement, artistic and creative activities, teaching English, modern directions of education (eg. Montessori elements), ecology, garden work (growing vegetables, fruit trees, medicinal plants).
• Development of creative, technical and analytical thinking, speech therapy (individually) and preschool preparation.

The company kindergarten will have a capacity of 12 children, with the proviso that, depending on interest, it can be increased to 24 children. The facility is designed for preschool children from 1 year to the start of compulsory schooling. Any free capacity will also be offered for use by other companies whose employees show interest in it.

The SQS Vlaknova optika company, which is the founder and operator of the Saurus children's group, will pay part of the monthly "kindergarten fee" to its employees.

12. 10. 2020 - DALŠÍ PREVENTIVNÍ OPATŘENÍ V SQS Vláknová optika a.s.

Vývoj epidemiologické situace není příznivý. Platí všechna opatření zavedená 16. 9. 2020, která se doplňují o další preventivní opatření:

1. ROUŠKY
   Důsledně noste roušky. Velmi doporučujeme nosit roušky i ve výrobních dílnách a kancelářích, kde je dodržování povinného rozestupu 2 metry na hraně. Každý obdržel od SQS sadu jednorázových a sadu textilních roušek. Tyto doporučujeme kombinovat. Prosím Vás o hygienické zacházení s rouškami viz přílohy. Nenoste jedinou jednorázovou roušku celý den a už vůbec ne celý týden!
2. ČIPOVÁNÍ, DEZINFEKCE
   Doporučujeme nedotýkat se při zaznamenávání docházky prsty docházkového terminálu. Pro zmáčknutí příslušného tlačítka raději použijte váš čip. V budovách SQS je umístěno (pevně připevněno na zdech) 15 ks dávkovačů dezinfekce viz příloha – prosím využívejte je.
3. VÝUKA ANGLIČTINY
   Nechceme zatím přistoupit k přerušení firemní výuky AJ. Lekce se budou nově konat ve velké zasedací místnosti za dodržení bezpečných vzdáleností mezi studenty.
4. PORADY ZAMĚSTNANCŮ Z VÍCE ODDĚLENÍ
   Pokud to bude jen trochu možné, prosím, vždy upřednostněte elektronický nebo telefonický kontakt. Pokud je z provozních důvodů nezbytné konat porady s osobní přítomností zaměstnanců z více oddělení, budou všichni dodržovat pravidlo 3R (roušky – ruce – rozestupy). Minimalizujte dobu trvání porad. U kulatého stolu u odd. kvality mohou sedět max. 3 osoby. Další jedině na dislokovaných židlích podél stěn s dodržením 2m rozestupů. U kulatých stolů u kávovaru v budově D mohou sedět max. 2 osoby. Pro nezbytné porady s větším počtem účastníků si prosím rezervujte velkou zasedací místnost.
5. NÁVŠTĚVY
   Omezte prosím návštěvy všech třetích osob v SQS na minimum. Do areálu SQS platí zákaz vstupu dětí, rodinných příslušníků a přátel zaměstnanců. Pracovní návštěvy se povolují v maximálním počtu 3 návštěvníků. Žádné podávání rukou! Při vstupu a po celou dobu pobytu musí mít návštěva i navštívený/provázející zaměstnanec nasazenu roušku. Návštěva si nazuje návleky, vydezinfikuje si ruce a navštívený/provázející zaměstnanec provede měření tělesné teploty. Je-li teplota některého návštěvníka vyšší než 37,3°C, není mu umožněn vstup.
6. POHYB V AREÁLU SQS
   Omezte všechny pochůzky po areálu SQS na minimum. Neshlukujte se, dodržujte rozestupy a vzdálenosti. Na kávu choďte maximálně ve dvou, nikoliv ve skupince několika kolegů. Administrativní pracovníci budou využívat pouze zázemí svého patra (křídla). Nebudou navštěvovat své kolegy v kuchyňkách v jiných patrech a odděleních. Např. kuchyňku u oddělení nákupu budou používat pouze zaměstnanci sídlící na témže patře (nákup, prodej, logistika OAS), nikdo další. V kuchyňkách pobývejte co nejkratší dobu.
7. DALŠÍ, RŮZNÉ
   Používejte schody, vyhýbejte se výtahům. K podpisům používejte svou vlastní propisku (podpisy na průvodkách, seznámení s návody a předpisy, podpisy účasti na školení, převzetí stravenek apod.).

Vedení společnosti děkuje všem zaměstnancům, kteří k dodržování preventivních opatření přistupují zodpovědně, chovají se ohleduplně, kolegiálně a kterým zdraví nás všech není lhostejné. Děkuje každému, kdo svým chováním a přístupem pomáhá udržet bezproblémový chod firmy.

 

16. 9. 2020 - PREVENTIVNÍ OPATŘENÍ V SQS PLATNÁ K 16. 9. 2020

1. pokud na sobě pociťujete příznaky podobné běžné chřipce, jako jsou zvýšená teplota, kašel, dušnost, únava, bolest svalů, dýchací obtíže, zažívací obtíže, ztrátu nebo otupění chuti nebo čichu, obraťte se na svého lékaře a postupujte dle jeho pokynů; v žádném případě nechoďte do zaměstnání a tuto skutečnost neprodleně oznamte svému nadřízenému
2. každý vedoucí bude provádět kontrolu tělesné teploty zaměstnanců bezdotykovým teploměrem každý den na začátku směny – ideálně nejpozději do 15 minut od příchodu každého zaměstnance na pracoviště; v případě nepřítomnosti vedoucího je jeho povinností zajistit kontrolu jiným pověřeným zaměstnancem (pokud plánujete dovolenou nebo nebudete přítomni z jiného důvodu, kontaktujte mě, dohodneme se na dalším postupu); zjevně nemocní zaměstnanci budou vedoucími neprodleně odesláni ke svému ošetřujícímu lékaři
3. pokud vám byla hygienickou stanicí nebo praktickým lékařem nařízena karanténa, informujte o tom zaměstnavatele a striktně ji dodržujte
4. žádné podávání rukou, dodržujte pravidla o kašlání a kýchání
5. omezte všechny pochůzky po areálu SQS na minimum; neshlukujte se, dodržujte rozestupy a vzdálenosti; až do odvolání je zakázáno pořádat oslavy svátků a narozenin formou hromadného shromažďování
6. v hlavní jídelně bude stát každý stůl samostatně, není dovoleno jejich spojování; u každého stolu mohou sedět max. 4 osoby; ve skleněném atriu budou sedět u stolu max. 2 osoby, stejně tak u kulatých stolů u kávovaru v budově D – 2 osoby maximálně!; prosím, pokud to jen trochu bude možné, dodržujte stále stejné skupiny osob, se kterými stolujete – důvod je zřejmý: chceme eliminovat riziko případné karantény na co nejmenší počet zaměstnanců; roušky je nezbytné mít nasazené po celou dobu pobytu v jídelnách i u kávovarů s jedinou výjimkou – když se posadíte ke stolu a konzumujete jídlo nebo pití; pokud si u stolu čtete, povídáte a podobně, roušky zůstávají nasazené; THP zaměstnance žádáme, aby kávu, čaj apod. konzumovali v klidu na svých pracovních místech a nikoliv ve společných prostorech
7. pravidelně používejte dezinfekci rukou (přípravky umístěné na všech sociálních zařízeních a u vstupů); probíhá dezinfekce povrchů ve společných prostorách, na něž se často sahá a vždy po střídání zaměstnanců (ve výrobě) – zajišťuje správa budov

10. 9. 2020 - Mimořádné opatření - povinnost nosit roušky

Včera bylo vydáno mimořádné opatření Ministerstva zdravotnictví ČR týkající se používání ochranných prostředků dýchacích cest ve vnitřních prostorech staveb a v prostředcích veřejné dopravy.

Povinnost nosit roušku se NEVZTAHUJE na zaměstnance po dobu, kdy vykonává práci na jednom místě, pracuje-li ve vzdálenosti nejméně 2 metry od jiné osoby.

Žádáme zaměstnance o dodržování tohoto nařízení při pohybu mimo své pracoviště ve vnitřních prostorech, na chodbách a všude, kde není možné dodržet rozestup 2 m. Od dnešního dne platí povinnost nosit roušky.

Povinnost nosit roušky ve vnitřních prostorech se týká také všech dodavatelů a návštěv.

Pokud si zaměstnanec roušku zapomene nebo přijde pracovní návštěva a nebude mít roušku, jsou k dispozici roušky jednorázové - vydává personální oddělení.

U hlavních vstupních dveří v recepci byl nainstalován bezdotykový dávkovač dezinfekce. Prosím, požádejte každého návštěvníka, aby dezinfekci před vstupem do SQS použil.

24. 3. 2020 - Pokyny ke správné manipulaci s rouškami

V přiložených dokumentech níže je podrobný popis a grafické znázornění, jak se o roušku starat a jak ji uchovávat. Prosíme, seznamte se s těmito dokumenty a uvedené zásady dodržujte, abyste ochránili nejen sebe, ale hlavně vaše kolegy v zaměstnání a vaši rodinu i ostatní, se kterými se setkáte.

POKYNY K ÚDRŽBĚ OPAKOVANĚ POUŽITELNÉ ROUŠKY

20. 3. 2020 - Postup správného mytí a dezinfekce rukou

Důkladné a časté mytí a dezinfekce rukou je nejdůležitějším prostředkem ochrany proti šíření koronaviru. Postup správného mytí a dezinfekce rukou je níže na přiloženém plakátu. Prosíme seznamte se uvedeným postupem a důsledně jej dodržujte.

19. 3. 2020 - Nařízení o povinném nošení ochranných prostředků dýchacích cest

V návaznosti na usnesení Vlády ČR týkající se používaní ochranných prostředků dýchacích cest (s účinností od 19. 3. 2020 od 00:00 hod.) upozorňujeme, že toto nařízení se týká také pobytu v zaměstnání!

Všichni zaměstnanci jsou nyní povinni se pohybovat v areálu SQS (vnitřní i venkovní prostory) výhradně se zakrytými ústy a nosem.

Účelem tohoto opatření je zabránit šíření kapének koronaviru. Bez ochranných prostředků dýchacích cest se dle usnesení vlády můžeme pohybovat POUZE DOMA.

Děkujeme všem za pochopení vážnosti situace a dodržování tohoto zákazu vydaného vládou ČR a prosíme všechny vedoucí zaměstnance, aby dodržování důsledně kontrolovali a vyžadovali. Celý text vládního usnesení je uveden níže

16. 3. 2020 - Opatření zavedená v SQS Vláknová optika a.s.

V návaznosti na epidemiologickou situaci v ČR a v návaznosti na rozhodnutí a doporučení vlády ČR přistupujeme k následujícím opatřením:

• pokud na sobě pociťujete příznaky podobné běžné chřipce, jako jsou zvýšená teplota, kašel, dušnost, únava, bolest svalů, dýchací obtíže, obraťte se na svého lékaře a postupujte dle jeho pokynů; v žádném případě nechoďte do zaměstnání a tuto skutečnost neprodleně oznamte svému nadřízenému
• zjevně nemocní zaměstnanci budou neprodleně odesláni ke svému ošetřujícímu lékaři
• pokud vám byla vládním opatřením nařízena karanténa, striktně ji dodržujte
• bude prováděna kontrola tělesné teploty zaměstnanců bezdotykovou formou koordinátorkou pro BOZP nebo vedoucími zaměstnanci
• s okamžitou účinností se přerušuje výuka AJ a NJ
• omezení všech školení – nejbližší školení organizované personálním odd. je školení řidičů plánované na 25.3.2020, týká se větší skupiny zaměstnanců, je odloženo, budete kontaktování ohledně dalšího postupu
• omezení návštěv v budovách SQS na minimální možnou míru; oprav a údržbových prací se toto netýká a opravy a údržba probíhají v nezměněném rozsahu dle potřeb SQS; další výjimky pro návštěvy schvaluje předseda představenstva
• žádné podávání rukou, dodržování pravidel o kašlání a kýchání
• omezte všechny pochůzky po areálu SQS na minimum; neshlukujte se, dodržujte rozestupy a vzdálenosti, např. při stravování v jídelně a v kuchyňkách; vedoucí pracovníci dohlédnou na to, aby se v exponovaných časech 14:00, 14:30, 15:30 a 22:00 netvořily fronty u čipovacích terminálů a neshlukovali se zaměstnanci v prostorách šaten; výrobní zaměstnance mohou „pouštět“ již od 13:50, resp. 14:20, resp. 21:50
• je dočasně umožněno používat pro účely stravování také stoly v prostorách skleněného tunelu (vedle fúzního odd.), kuchyňky u dílny VLS (budova D 1. NP), kuchyňky u vývojové dílny (budova D 2.NP) a kuchyňku ve 3.NP budovy D (tam je mikrovlnka integrovaná přímo ve vestavné troubě)
• THP zaměstnanci mají dočasně možnost obědvat na svých pracovních místech – operativně bude řešena redistribuce/přikoupení mikrovlnek
• pravidelně používejte dezinfekci rukou (přípravky umístěné na všech sociálních zařízeních), bude probíhat dezinfekce povrchů ve společných prostorách, na něž se často sahá a vždy po střídání zaměstnanců (ve výrobě) – zajišťuje správa budov

SPIE Photonics West is taking place in San Francisco from February 1 to February 6, 2020 - a week of international conferences and accompanying exhibitions in photonics and laser technology. The event includes three conferences BiOS, LASE, OPTO and two exhibitions BiOS Expo and Photonics West Exhibition, attended by experts and companies specializing in a variety of photonic and optical technologies: lasers and other light sources, cameras, optics and high-speed imaging, optical communications, components, devices and systems of fiber optics.

SQS Vlaknova optika (SQS Fiber Optics) will participate in the Photonics West Exhibition where the company will present its products and services in development and manufacturing. Among the most interesting SQS products that come from company’s own development, there are various types of fiber optic bundles. They are designed to transmit optical signals with very high performance. The fiber bundles contain up to 10,000 or even more optical fibers and can serve, for example, in the form of special interconnecting cables for the transmission of high energy laser beams.

Lasers are now used in many industries for cutting, welding, drilling and other applications. A very interesting application of lasers is for example Laser Shock Peening (LSP) – hardening of material surface of mechanical parts by high-energy laser pulses which allows a significant increase in fatigue life of cyclically loaded parts. This technology finds practical use in the most demanding applications such as in the aerospace industry. For LSP and other laser applications, it is advantageous when the laser head may be moved around the workpiece. This can only be achieved by interconnecting the laser beam source and the laser working head with a special fiber optic cable capable of transferring the very-high-energy laser beam required.

At the Photonics West Exhibition, SQS will introduce also other products from its own R&D. These include e.g. various types of fiber arrays including a very low-profile solution that has been developed to connect optical fibers directly to photonic active elements on printed circuit boards, or various types of optical feedthroughs for high-pressure or hi-vacuum applications.

Between October 4 and November 16 already the 4th Presentation of secondary schools and employers, an event organized by the Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Regional Authority of the Hradec Králové Region, will take place in the district towns of the Region.

SQS will traditionally participate in the Presentation of secondary schools and employers in the town of Jicin. The event takes place on 18 and 19 October at the Masaryk Theater (on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

At the presentation stand of SQS, interested parties will learn about the company, products and their applications, modern technologies, working positions and the working environment, and last but not least also about their opportunities in connection with the field their study.

On September 24th the regional round of the Talent for Companies 2019 competition took place. The competing teams consisted of three elementary school pupils, three high school students, a teacher and an expert from practice leading the team as a captain.

This year's 4th edition of this competition took place at the Secondary School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Nová Paka. Three teams of eight, consisting of pupils of the fifth grade of the Elementary School in Komenského Street, students of the second year of the host High School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and representatives of three important employers - Seco Industries, s.r.o., Continental Automotive Czech Republic s.r.o. and SQS Vlaknova optika a.s. The competition task was to build a model of polytechnic kit prepared exclusively for this competition.

The winner was the team of SQS Vláknová optika a.s. led by Milos Dolejsi and the team advanced to the regional final round, which will take place on November 15 in Hradec Kralove.

 

SQS offers many types of vacuum fiber optic feedthroughs as well as high pressure fiber optic feedthroughs. M16 vacuum fiber optic adapter feedthrough construction has been optimized for high vacuum applications. This is a solution suitable for a wall thickness of 7 mm to 13 mm with a hole diameter of 16.5 mm to 17 mm.

Application examples can be seen in various industries, also in military applications, oil and gas applications, etc. Fiber optic feedthrough flange is fully demountable, i.e. single feedthroughs can be easily replaced. SQS has developed its own technology for the optical fiber sealing.

This technology allows working with different types of optical fibers including polarization maintaining fibers (PM ).

I personally hired Jindriska Svecova in June 2000. She joined the sales department as an export manager.

After a short time Jindriska profiled herself as a very creative-minded employee and became an indispensable part of the sales team. Since 2002 she has worked as a Development and Strategy Officer. Jindriska actively participated in important decisions on the direction of further development of SQS Vlaknova optika.

She was involved in establishing and maintaining a very successful project with the Canadian company JDS Uniphase. This cooperation with the world leader in components for major telecommunications equipment manufacturers has significantly shifted our company. We have become a major supplier of optical components for the infrastructure of optical transmission systems.

In 2003 we established cooperation with the English company Sifam (now Gooch & Housego). We concluded a contract for production of optical components for aerospace and telecommunications. Since 2004 we have started to produce and supply optical components for undersea transmission systems for this company. Jindriska contributed greatly to the success of this long-term cooperation. Since the very beginning to present days she has participated in creation of contracts and setting conditions for cooperation as well as in everyday communication and maintenance of above-standard relations with Gooch & Housego.

Jindriska has always worked conscientiously, responsibly, proactively, with high expertise and a great deal of commitment.

I would like to thank Jindriska for more than 19 years of creative activity and great work for SQS. The results of her work have contributed to the good reputation of our company.

On June 24-27, 2019 SQS will be exhibiting at the Laser World of Photonics trade show in Munich. Laser is the world's leading trade fair and congress focusing on photonic components, systems and applications. The fair brings together research and the photonic industry to promote the use and further development of photonic solutions.

SQS will present its current portfolio of fiber optic, optoelectronic and micromachining products and services. The presentation will focus mainly on new fiber optic components developed by SQS. One of the most interesting ones is the high-power laser interconnection cable for high-energy laser beams, which are produced by special technology by bundling up to several thousand optical fibers. Other interesting products are, for example, various types of fiber fields including a very low profile solution that was developed to connect optical fibers directly to semiconductor optical components on printed circuit boards, or fiber optic feedthroughs that allow optical fiber installation and transmission of optical signals between environments with a high pressure difference, e.g. from sensors placed in vacuum or vice versa in high pressure environments.

In 2019 SQS Vláknová optika celebrates its 25th anniversary.

For a quarter century of existence, the company has built a very good name in our country and abroad in the field of development and production of fiber optics and optoelectronics components for various devices and systems working with optical signals and data.

From the first few employees working in one room, their number has gradually grown to just nearly 300, and the SQS premises in the heart of Nova Paka today comprise several buildings with clean room manufacturing facilities and modern technologies.

Since the initial production of fiber optic interconnect cables with one type of connector technology (Diamond active core-alignment technology) and an exclusive focus on telecommunications, the assortment has expanded considerably. The current range of components produced in SQS comes largely from its own development and is also applied in many other fields. Company’s main fiber optic products include optical interconnect cables with optical connectors, optical signal splitters for splitting the power of an input signal into multiple output fibers, laser delivery cables for high-energy laser beams transfer, optical fiber arrays, fiber feedthroughs and other products, e.g. for applications in optical telecommunication networks, data centers, measurement and sensor technology and other applications across industries including aerospace, defense, medicine, engineering or underwater communications.

In the field of optoelectronics, the main products of SQS are special LEDs with integrated optical lenses for various types of automobile lighting and lighting modules containing multiple LED chips, optics, optionally also intelligent lighting parameters control.

The resulting solutions of SQS products are often a combination of optics, fiber optics and optoelectronics, but also precision mechanics as the design and precise manufacturing of mechanical components are of no less importance to the overall solution. That's why the company has recently invested heavily in precision laser and CNC machining.

SQS sees its future in further development of company's existing strengths and its ability to offer customers comprehensive services from technical development and design through prototype development to production processes development and serial production.

SQS is aware of the fact that the company's main capital is overall the people working in the company. Their knowledge and skills combined with state-of-the-art technologies are the key to finding solutions and the following production. Since SQS is built on innovations and the development of new components, often tailored to customer requirements, the company must have a strong development department currently counting about 60 engineers including four with PhD degrees. SQS employee support for further education and their independent scientific work is a matter of course in this respect.

The company wants to further develop cooperation with secondary and higher education institutions, continue to cooperate with experts from Czech and foreign research organizations, but also to give opportunity to all who have addressed the company's focus, make them sense and are interested in innovative solutions and production built on modern technologies.
