Between March 24 and 27, 2015 SQS is going to attend the AMPER trade show in Brno, traditionally in a joint exhibition together with its sister company Quittner & Schimek. The United Nations (UN) General Assembly 68th Session proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies (IYL 2015).

The International Year of Light is a global initiative which will highlight to the citizens of the world the importance of light and optical technologies in their lives, for their futures, and for the development of society. It is an unique opportunity to inspire, educate, and connect on a global scale.

IYL 2015 programs will promote improved public and political understanding of the central role of light in the modern world while also celebrating noteworthy anniversaries in 2015—from the first studies of optics 1,000 years ago to discoveries in optical communications that power the Internet today.

The year 2015 was chosen as the International Year of light because just this year we celebrate the "round" anniversaries of several very important events related to light:

1,000 years since the release of "Book of Optics" in 1015 (Ibn Al Haytham)

200 years since the discovery of the wave nature of light in 1815 (Augustin Fresnel)

150 years since the foundation of electromagnetic theory in 1865 (James Clerk Maxwell)

100 years since the foundation of the theory of general relativity involving light in space and time 1915 (Albert Einstein)

50 years since the discovery of fiber optic technology in 1965 (Charles Kuen Kao)

Day of Photonics is an annual event that promotes “photonics” towards the general public. Companies, research organizations, and organizations involved in photonics will reach out to their communities to raise awareness about what is photonics and why it is important, and promote the role of their organization in the photonics ecosystem and value chain. At the occasion of the anniversary, activities are organized over numerous countries and encompass all kinds of demonstrations on the impact of photonics on our day-to-day life.

Why the 21 October? On 21 October 1983 the General Conference of Weights And Measures adopted the value of 299,792.458 km/s for the speed of light.

SQS Vlaknova optika offers complete solution for fiber to the antenna (FTTA) applications. Traditional wireless networks are unable to cover ever climbing data traffic. However they may be upgraded by connecting the antenna to a broadband optical backbone to meet technical requirements for deployment of new generation networks (4G/LTE). The FTTA solution by SQS is fully modular offering flexibility for customization according to specific demands of customers. The FTTA cable is ready to use and may be installed by persons with minimal training.

SQS Vlaknova optika offers rugged cost effective fiber optic connectivity solutions that ensure resistance to bad weather conditions and harsh environments thus they are designed for outdoor installation such as the Fiber to the Antenna (FTTA) connection, security technology etc. The product line of ruggedized components includes connectors, bulkhead receptacles, distribution boxes, cable drums and UV light resistant cables with flame retardant jacket.

SQS offers a 10-year warranty on assembled connectors with ceramic, multilayer and multi-fiber ferrule purchased from July 2014.

On January 1, 2014 SQS Fiber Optics became a member of EPIC – European Photonics Industry Consortium. EPIC is the industry association that promotes the sustainable development of organizations working in the field of photonics in Europe. EPIC members encompass the entire value chain from LED lighting, Photovoltaic solar energy, Photonics Integrated Circuits, Optical components, Lasers, Sensors, Imaging, Displays, Projectors, Optic fiber, and other photonic related technologies. Currently EPIC associates more than 120 companies and organizations.

Příjemné prožití vánočních svátků, pevné zdraví, hodně štěstí a úspěchů v novém roce

SQS Vláknová optika získala cenu Technologické agentury České republiky za originalitu řešení v projektu „Optický paketový přepínač“. SQS na projektu spolupracovala s Ústavem fotoniky a elektroniky AV ČR a s ČVUT Praha.
Ocenění získali tři nejlepší projekty aplikovaného výzkumu, které byly realizovány s podporou Technologické agentury ČR a skončily v roce 2012 nebo 2013. Cena byla udělena ve třech kategoriích – originalita řešení, užitečnost řešení, řešení pro kvalitu života. Komise složená ze zástupců výzkumné a kontrolní rady TA ČR, předsednictva TA ČR a nezávislých expertů vybírala ze 194 projektů.
Ceny byly řešitelům úspěšných projektů předány 4. prosince 2013 na slavnostním společenském setkání nazvaném „Setkání s perspektivami – Cena TA ČR“ pořádaném Technologickou agenturou ČR u příležitosti 4. výročí jejího založení. Setkání se uskutečnilo v Nové budově Národního muzea, za přítomnosti významných reprezentantů výzkumu, vývoje a inovací v ČR a známých osobností.

Strategies in Light Europe - konference s doprovodnou výstavou se zaměřením na nové trendy, technologie, komponenty, zařízení a systémy na trhu osvětlovací techniky, která se konala 19-21.11. 2013 v Mnichově.

SQS zde představovala svoji platformu inteligentních zdrojů světla ve formě hybridních integrovaných obvodů a jejich výroby zapouzdřováním čipů na úrovni waferu. SQS přitom staví především na zkušenostech ze sériové výroby optoelektronických komponentů. Hlavní předností řešení SQS je zvolená forma hybridního integrovaného obvodu složeného z čipů jednotlivých součástek zajišťující nejenom kompaktnost pokud jde o rozměry, ale také vysokou spolehlivost a životnost, a v neposlední řadě i velkou flexibilitu pro návrh a výrobu nejrůznějších modifikací těchto zdrojů LED osvětlení podle požadavků zákazníků.

SQS Vláknová optika bude ve dnech 12.-15.11. prezentovat své výrobní služby a související produkty na veletrhu Productronica v Mnichově.

Prezentace SQS se zaměří především na nově zaváděnou výrobu kompaktních zdrojů světla LED ve formě hybridních integrovaných obvodů. Jedná se o nový koncept konstrukce a výroby modulů LED umožňující zákaznické modifikace elektro-optických i mechanických parametrů a jejich výrobu díky flexibilitě vyvinutých výrobních procesů a příslušné výrobní linky.
