High-power optical connectors have a copper ferrule, which ensures better heat dissipation during operation. At the front of this ferrule there is a cavity with the fiber placed in free space. This method of storing the fiber, together with the use of glue at the rear of the connector, significantly reduces the risk of damage to the connector in the event of poor-quality coupled laser radiation. Using a special type of epoxy, unwanted cladding radiation (“mode-stripping”) can be eliminated. The resulting excess heat is then dissipated using a passive heat sink.

In case the fiber core diameter is not sufficient for the required optical power, we offer a connector variant with an end-cap. This solution ensures an increase in the diameter of the laser beam and thus a reduction in the power density at the fiber-air interface. This interface can also be provided with an anti-reflection coating (ARC).
